First look at the upcoming religious drama series by Channel 4, 'Falling', starring Paapa Essiedu ('Gangs of London') and Keeley Hawes ('Miss Austen'), with a script by Adolescence creator Jack Thorne, with director Peter Hoar ('It's A Sin').
The series will follow a priest (Essiedu), and a devoted nun (Hawes), and the challenge they face when unexpectedly falling in love with each other despite how content and happy they are with their faith and the church. How could they overcome this when feelings are so strong?
Joining the main cast we have Jason Watkins ('The Crown), Rakie Ayola ('Kaos'), Niamh Cusack ('Heartbeat'), David Dawson ('My Policeman') and many other talented and recognizable faces. There is not a date for when this will be hitting Channel 4 but shooting is over with and expectations are high.
Especially with how well received 'Adolescence' and 'Toxic Town' were, and all the praise they keep receiving. Both creator Thorne and director Hoar have a lot of successful and beloved titles under their belts, meaning 'Falling' can be their next big success.
This is first time that Jack Thorne is writing romance, but according to everyone working on it, the show has an amazingly witty screenplay that exudes heart and personality, despite handling such interesting and personal themes like faith.
They'll probably be announcing this for the second half of the year, since post-production seems to be mostly done and teasing and promo for the series is already going.
