Recently the news broke about a new adaptation of 'Pride And Prejudice', the classical novel by Jane Austen, as a limited series for Netflix streaming service, and we now know who will be the new faces of this iconic and beloved characters.
Golden Globe and SAG award winner Emma Corrin ('The Crown') will be leading the series as Elizabeth Bennet with Oscar winner Olivia Colman ('The Favourite') as her mother, Mrs. Bennet, and the coveted role of one of the favorite fictional heartthrobs goes to Jack Lowden ('Slow Horses') who will be playing Mr. Darcy.
'Pride & Prejudice' already has some adaptations, including multiple movies and a TV mini series, even a musical, but the fan favorite, and the one this limited series will have to top is the 2005 movie starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.
The series will be coming out in 2026, meaning the series will start production later this year and most likely will be 6 episodes long. There's a lot of cast announcements left to make, but so far we do know the team behind this, with British author Dolly Alderton writing the screenplay and Heartstopper's director, Euros Lyn.
Of course, the intention behind this adaptation is giving new recognizable faces to the iconic characters, ones the younger generations can recognize, in an effort of reintroducing Austen's work to a new demographic that most likely doesn't dabble into anything they consider 'old'.
Let's wait for more news on the production or who else will be joining the already outstanding cast, with two award winner and widely beloved actors.
