Actor Robert Pattinson has shown a clear penchant for carefully selecting his roles, often opting for more intimate productions. Now, rumors are circulating about his possible participation as the lead in the series Neuromancer. This project, an adaptation of William Gibson's influential cyberpunk novel Neuromancer published in 1984, is in production for the Apple TV+ streaming platform. The story depicts a futuristic world dominated by technology, a concept that seemed improbable at the time but is now part of our everyday reality.
Initially, Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick) was the favorite for the lead role, but recent reports suggest that Pattinson has gained ground in the race. This would be a victory over other big-name actors such as Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger), Oscar Isaac (Dune), Taron Egerton (Rocketman), Nicholas Hoult (The Great) and The Bear star Jeremy Allen White, who were also considered for the role.
The plot will follow the story of a retired hacker named Henry Case, a character played by Pattinson, who has to fulfill a task for a mysterious mansion and a dangerous individual. In his quest to accomplish his task, he teams up with a samurai, facing challenges that question reality itself. Although Robert Pattinson has appeared in sci-fi films such as Tenet, directed by Christopher Nolan, and High Life, where he plays a prisoner on a spaceship, it will be exciting to see him return to this genre with his eventual addition to Neuromancer.
As for the team behind the project, the rumors says that Graham Roland (Jack Ryan and Dark Winds) and JD Dillard (Devotion) could be in charge of writing and directing, respectively. However, these details are not yet fully official.
