Production just started on 'Primetime', with British actor Robert Pattinson starring and producing the narrative film debut by Documentary filmmaker Lance Oppenheim for A24. The movie was first announced back in October 2024, and now after 5 months shooting is starting.
The film is going to be a true crime drama, following a journalist (Pattinson) as he changes television with his new way to expose the criminal underworld to broad daylight.
The details are very little on 'Primetime', we don't know much about the script other than, according to Varity, tt's allegedly based on 'To Catch A Predator', and the 2000's wave of programs exposing people doing bad things in national TV.
Ajon Singh is behind the screenplay, with it being his first script to start production, and while Lance Oppenheim hasn't experienced with narrative before and has a name for his documentary films and docuseries 'Rein Faire', true crime doesn't strive too far from the documentary genre, so he can accomplish something really interesting with this.
Mockumentary, found footage, hidden cameras, there's a lot of interesting things to make with a true crime film, specially with an acting talent as impressive as Robert Pattinson, who is currently receiving a lot of praise for his dual role in Bong Joon-ho's 'Mickey17'.
There are no other actors in the cast at the moment, or many details about the full team behind the film, so we'll have to wait until A24 decides to share some news about 'Primetime', although rollout is probably happening for late 2026.
