Writer and director Tommy Wirkola ('Violent Night') has been working in shark survival thriller 'Shiver' for Columbia Pictures since May 2024, and after announcing that it was going to premiere this August, 2025, Sony Pictures has delayed the premiere to July 3, 2026, almost a full year of separation.
The reasons are unknown at the moment, because according that what we know the film was almost ready for release, with filming finishing back in August 2024 with the full cast of 'Shiver' being British actress Phoebe Dynevor ('Bridgerton'), Whitney Peak ('Gossip Girl') and Djimon Hounsou ('Rebel Moon').
A very small cast for what we suppose would be a single location survival horror in the likes of other shark thriller we've seen before, but the plot details have been a secret until now, with no trailer or official set pictures being out to the public.
Probably the delaying of the film it's more about the competition at the moment instead of the movie not being ready, but let's hope that 'Shiver' has a good rollout and can succeed when time is due, and we'll probably be getting an official trailer early 2026, if it doesn't end up shelved like many other recent projects have.
