British broadcast director Sam Wrench, also the director of the 'Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour' film, is making his directorial debut with a narrative film with a remake of the iconic 1980's musical drama 'The Idolmaker'.
At that time, back in 1980, 'The Idolmaker' was the directorial debut of the legendary Oscar winner filmmaker Taylor Hackford, who then went on to win Oscars, BAFTAs and Golden Globes, with many more accolades to his name.
Amazon MGM is producing this remake, a fresh new take on the musical drama about talent manager Bob Marcucci, with a brand new screenplay by American writer and Emmy winner Jason Katims.
Of course, we don't have any details about the plot of this new version of 'The Idolmaker', or even if it will be about the same person, but if it's anything like the original in terms of color and personality, we're gonna be getting into a wild ride of color, drama, and music.
Wrench got the deal after directing Taylor Swift's 'The Eras Tour' Film and grossing over $200 million dollars at the box office, and the expectations are high for this narrative debut of his since he has some great work with his reality tv and broadcast credits, including a grammy nomination.
We don't know yet if this is gonna be a theatrical release, or if it's going for a Prime Video release, but we'll probably be getting a lot of casting announcements and more details about this remake by the second half of the year.
