After stunning critics and audiences alike with her performance in A24's "Civil War," Kirsten Dunst has already lined up her next project, and no, it's not another Spider-Man remake. This time, she will join Channing Tatum in the true-crime film "Roofman," directed by Derek Cianfrance. Based on the almost unbelievable story of Jeffrey Manchester, a charming thief. Known as the "Rooftop Thief" or simply "Roofman," Manchester broke into over 60 McDonald's and after serving in the U.S. Army, Manchester was caught in 2000 and sent to jail. As a important amateur escape artist, he decides to break out because he did not quite enjoy being in prison. His destination was none other than a Toys 'R Us and a Circuit City where, instead of looking for the latest gaming console, he survived on baby food and bike rides around the store.
Kirsten Dunst will portray a Toys 'R Us employee struggling to support her two daughters, Dee and Lindsay, as the world around her crumbles (and not just because of the sales). Unbeknownst to her, Manchester is watching her from inside the store, and, true to form for a romantic thief, he falls in love with her. At first, it seems sweet, until she discovers that he is not just hiding in the warehouse to avoid paying for his purchases. Dylan Sellers, Chris Parker, and Cianfrance's longtime collaborators Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell Taylor join the production team for "Roofman," with a screenplay by Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn. In addition, Kirsten Dunst latest credits include; The Power of the Dog, Woodshock and Civil War. Other members of the cast are still on negotiations to join the project.
