Tom Cruise will perform as the lead character of Alejandro Iñarritu's approaching film, which is taking shape as Deadline has revealed plot details and an impressive cast. The actor was recently featured in the most recent Mission Impossible movie and now he is producing this project. This untitled film from the four-time Oscar winner, who took charge of amazing stories such as Birdman, The Revenant and Amores Perros, will tell the story of the world's most powerful man who embarks on a frantic mission to prove himself the savior of humanity before the disaster he has unleashed destroys everything, although not the entire plot idea is out yet. Iñárritu co-wrote the script with his frequent collaborator Nicolás Giacobone (Bardo), along with Alexander Dinelaris (also a co-writer of Birdman) and award-winning playwright and journalist Sabina Berman. Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment are developing the project.
In addition to Tom Cruise, Alejandro González Iñárritu's new film will feature an ensemble cast full of remarkable talents including: Sandra Hüller, the recent German actress Oscar nominee for her roles on The Zone of Interest and Anatomy of a fall; Michael Stuhlbarg, Emmy Winner and actor from Call me by your name and The Shape of Water; Jesse Plemons, the Academy nominee for The Power of the Dog and known for her recent role on Yorgos Lanthimos' Kinds of Kindness, on the other hand, Sophie Wilde, the breakout talent from Talk to Me and the legendary John Goodman, most recently seen on Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain. Filming is very likely to begin early next year, with Tom Cruise also serving as lead producer along a huge crew of screen writers.
