Anne Hathaway will star in and produce the adaptation of Caro Claire Burke's as-yet-unreleased novel, "Yesteryear." The story of a woman who embraces traditional roles will be transformed when a trip back in time forces her to adopt the customs she has championed without any of the modern conveniences.
Hathaway will portray in "Yesteryear," her upcoming film adaptation of Caro Claire Burke's groundbreaking novel, in accordance to Deadline. "Yesteryear" introduces Natalie, a woman meticulously crafting a 1950s lifestyle. Her ranch is a picture-perfect setting for her cowboy husband and their six thriving children. With thousands of followers, Anne Hathaway plays a famous mom influencer who seeks to give the image of a perfect life.
Thereafter, in "Yesteryear," Natalie abruptly awakens to a world eerily familiar yet drastically altered. Her 21st-century comforts vanish, replaced by the harsh realities of 1805. As the dawn of this new era breaks, so too does her independence, leaving her stripped of decision-making power, lifestyle comfort and control over her own body.
Publishers just bought the project at a millionaire-dollar auction just a month ago, and plan to release it in 2026. The same auction also awarded the book's adaptation rights to Anne Hathaway's production company and Amazon Studios. A release date for the film adaptation has yet to be determined.
As we can expect, Anne Hathaway's involvement in Yesteryear already guarantees its success.
