Lionsgate today released the first teaser trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 1, a new cinematic horror universe. It all began in 2008, with the Bryan Betino-directed film starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman. The plot centered on three masked assailants terrorizing a young couple during a romantic getaway at their remote country home. In 2018, the second project in the saga was available, titled Prey at Night, and then a reboot of the franchise was official with a new trilogy of films, the first chapter of which can be see in May this year, while the other two, will be announce soon.
With a screenplay co-written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland ('Out of Accounts', 'King of the Hill'), Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez are the actors who star in the story, playing the roles of Maya and Ryan, an engaged couple who are restarting their lives by starting from scratch in a different city. The two main characters are driving to a place located in the Pacific Northwest, where they will start from scratch a new life with many illusions, but their plans will change. When they are in Venus, Oregon, they are have to interrupt their trip because their car breaks down. That's when they stay in an Airbnb far from civilization. When they are there, they begin to be horrified by three masked men who seem to have no mercy whatsoever.
Rounding out the cast are: Rachel Shenton, Gabriel Basso, , Richard Brake, Ella Bruccoleri, Ema Horvath, George Young, Rebecka Johnston, JR Esposito, Janis Ahern, Florian Clare, Ben Cartwright, Ryan Bown, Brian Law, Stevee Davies, Miles Yekinni, among others.
The Strangers: Chapter 1 will hit theaters on May 17 from Lionsgate.
