After the premiere of Halloween Ends in 2022, everything seemed to be over for the horror saga, but it will continue on the small screen. It has become more than common that big movie hits, especially multi-film franchises, also have the opportunity to shine on television. Either to expand the story they tell in theaters, or to tell something completely different within the same universe.
It has happened to several horror sagas like Scream or The Purge, which developed shows based on the story that made them popular, but had no direct connection with what happened beyond the small screen, except for some winks and references. Now it will be the turn of the franchise led by Michael Myers to approach a new format, after its last film trilogy did not end up delighting the audience, despite having a very good start and having brought back Jamie Lee Curtis.
Last year it was confirmed that Miramax was interested in developing new stories within the same universe, but this time for television. This is now a fact, and studio executive Marc Helwig previewed details of the project to Deadline:
"The basis is the original film, the John Carpenter film, the characters from that film and maybe a bunch of characters that we haven't focused on much in recent film versions or even several of them. It's a big world… so I don't think it's an opportunity to let that go. We're working fast, it's a big priority for us. We've had a lot of interesting conversations over the last few months with a number of really talented people and I think we'll have a pretty clear idea of what we're going to do very soon."
