The Netflix series The Crown, renowned for its detailed historical narrative of the British monarchy, began its first season with the union of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and seven years later, it is preparing to conclude its run with another significant romance: the relationship Kate Middleton and Prince William.
The first part of its sixth and final installment focused on Princess Diana, her final summer and her tragic death in Paris in August 1997. So the next six episodes, which will hit streaming on December 14, will focus on the now young William and Harry, played by Ed McVey and Luther Ford, respectively, and will extend to around 2005, marking important events such as the wedding of the current King Charles and Queen Camilla.
After the death of his mother, the plot will begin with the return of Lady Di's eldest son to Eton and his struggle to readjust, which leads to tensions with his family. Subsequently, it will follow his life at St. Andrew's University, where he will receive a great deal of attention from his young female admirers touched by his situation, as well as being the setting where his mediatic love affair unfolds. Meg Bellamy, who plays the future Princess of Wales expressed the complexity of her role in an interview with People: "She's a real person, so there's a lot of research available. But often it's just noise because you don't know what's true and you have to take everything with caution" and added: "It's great to strip back, just have the script and have conversations with the directors and the people you're producing the show with."
The second part of the sixth season of The Crown arrives on Netflix on December 14.
