After moving from small dramas to the 'Barbie' movie, grossing over $1 Billion in the box office, Greta Gerwig immediately signed a deal by Netflix to write and direct two movie adaptations of the best selling fantasy saga by C. S. Lewis 'The Chronicles of Narnia'.
And with the movie still being in pre-production and no official casting yet, it has been causing quite some conversation. The films, initially set to release only in the streaming platform, got a deal for a two week exclusive release on IMAX, with studios and theater chains speaking against this.
Now, according to an exclusive by Deadline, the grammy winner artist Charli xcx is supposedly in consideration to play a big role in the 'Narnia' adaptation, only it's not just any character, but our main villain Jadis, the white witch, previously played by Tilda Swinton.
After the news broke, everyone on Twitter quickly began talking about it, with some polarizing opinions about it. More especifically some doubters saying that Charli xcx (although none of the movies she's been joining in the past year are out for judging) doesn't have the range for a role like this.
The singer, after the success of her last musical project 'BRAT', said she wanted to take this new branch of acting very seriously, so she make greatly surprise everyone if she ends up taking on the role. Which (we hope) is likely since no one wanted to make a declaration about the rumours.
Greta Gerwig's 'Narnia' will be premiering Thanksgiving 2026, and the details about the plot or the rest of the cast are few, so we'll have to wait for the official announcements and trust that the team is making the best choices, based solely on talent.
