For many, Apple TV+ is one of the few streaming platforms that have a large majority of very good quality content. And what's to come, as very soon the platform will premiere Napoleon, the new film directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ridley Scott. Empire magazine recently released a couple of new images from Napoleon to whet your appetite for its upcoming release.
Starring Joaquin Phoenix (Joker: Folie a Deux, C'mon C'mon.), Ridley Scott's new film focuses on the rise to power of French leader Napoleon Bonaparte and his relationship with his consort, Empress Josephine. "A personal look at the origins of the French military leader and his swift and ruthless rise to emperor. The story is seen through the lens of Napoleon Bonaparte's addictive and volatile relationship with his wife and only true love, Josephine," details the film's synopsis.
Previously, Scott had stated that the entire team behind this project is about subverting expectations of the character and traditional biopic, something Phoenix also recently shared. "If you really want to understand Napoleon, then you should probably study and read on your own. Because if you watch this movie, it's this experience told through Ridley's eyes. It's such a complex world. I mean, it's so f*cking complex. What we were looking for was something that captured the feeling of this man," details the actor.
In fact, aside from Joaquin Phoenix, the cast of Napoleon features Vanessa Kirby (Mission Impossible: Deadly Sentence. Part One, The Son, Fragments of a Woman), Tahar Rahim (Madame Web), Youssef Kerkour (The Gucci House), Ben Miles (Tetris, Kidnapped in the Air) and Liam Edwards (Tate: Two Days of Blood), among others.
