'The Dog Stars' the upcoming project by English director Ridley Scott, initially starring Irish actor Paul Mescal, now has a new face attached to it because of a schedule conflict. Apparently, according to Variety's exclusive, Mescal is going to be too busy recording Sam Mendes' Beatles biopics.
Now, according to rumours, HBO's 'Euphoria' star Jacob Elordi is going to replace Mescal as the main actor of 'The Dog Stars', a post-apocalyptic movie about a new virus that kills half of the world's population and a pilot and his allies trying to survive merciless scavengers in this newly depleted world. This would be the return of director Ridley Scott to the sci-fi genre, after his legendary work with the 'Alien' franchise.
Originally a novel by Peter Heller, adapted to the screen for Scott to direct by 'Twisters' writer Mark L. Smith and a 20th Century Studios production, a promising premise with a great names attached to it, but before we get to see all this in our big screns, there's another project on the way. Scott is also working on a Bee Gees for Paramount.
At the moment though, Elordi's addition to the project is just a rumour since there is no contract, yet. The intentions to cast him are there, but he is currently working in the upcoming live action of 'Wuthering Heights', as well as the next season of 'Euphoria'. Let's wait on the official announcement .
