The Batman Part 2, which will hit theaters on October 3, 2025, will bring back some of the villains from the first installment and will also introduce new characters that The Batman will have to face. The latest information about the film reveals the identity of one of the new enemies of Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight in its sequel. According to Deadline, Clayface will be one of the villains in The Batman Part 2, which will begin filming on November 23 this year, and in fact, it will once again feature Greig Fraser in charge of cinematography. This is a character who, along with others like the Scarecrow, the Penguin -whose series starring Colin Farrell has already begun production- or Professor Pyg, had sounded to have their own spin-off by the hand of Matt Reeves, within what the director himself has called BatVerse.
In fact, Deadline also reports that Mike Flanagan, creator of series such as The Haunting of Hill House or Midnight Mass, would have proposed to Warner Bros. a project with Clayface as the protagonist, in which the evil character would not be portrayed as a supervillain. Flanagan, however, later noted on Twitter that the news was "entirely speculative" and that he would inform the public if it came to fruition.
The Batman Part 2 will be a completely independent film from the new DC universe by James Gunn and Peter Safran and will belong to the category known as DC Elseworlds. The Joker sequel, Folie à Deux and a new story of the last son of Krypton called Black Superman, produced by J.J. Abrams, are some of the company's future projects that will release under this label that separates them from the franchise's main universe.
