The sixth season of The Crown will arrive on Netflix in late 2023 and its plot will pay tribute to the memory of Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away at the age of 96 last September. The monarch's life inspired the drama series, created by Peter Morgan, which won seven Golden Globes and 21 Emmys in its five initial installments. In all this time, three actresses have played who was the highest authority of the British Empire from 1952 to 2022.
International media such as Deadline and The Sun talk about the tribute that would say goodbye to the queen in the fiction. According to the aforementioned press, the show's producers have decided to invite Claire Foy and Olivia Colman, former stars of The Crown, to reprise her character in a series of special scenes. Considering that Imelda Staunton plays Elizabeth in her more adult age, the season could bring together up to four versions of the sovereign.
The Sun, which previously got it right in its leaks about the cast of The Crown, reported that young actress Viola Prettejohn would be coming to the series to show 'Lilibeth' before her coronation. It is a look at Elizabeth when she was still a princess at the time of World War II. Prettejohn, who bears a striking physical resemblance to Claire Foy, has previously appeared in the series Counterpart, The Witcher and The Nevers.
On the other hand, the sixth installment will also address the romance of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy will play the young lovers when they met at the University of St. Andrews.
Netflix notes that the new season could arrive by Fall of this year.
