The most recent film by director Steven Soderbergh, 'Black Bag', is currently in theaters globally and gathering a lot of positve reviews and overall acclaim for everything it does flawlessly. A spy thriller and romance following an ensemble cast led by Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender.
Soderbergh's 'Presence' was recently in theaters everywhere, a new horror film widely praised for being daring and fresh to the genre, and the same things are true for 'Black Bag' according to reviewers, with some calling it a fresh exercise for the spy thriller genre, with a screenplay by David Koepp.
Following an intelligence officer of the British government, George Woodhouse (Fassbender), and the chaos that follows after his superior tasks him with recovering a stollen software, with one of five suspects being his beloved wife Kathryn St. Jean (Blanchett).
Althought Woodhouse and St. Jean's marriage is the center piece of this, the thriller manages to use all of its ensemble cast to the fullest when Woodhouse invites the two other couples suspected of this leak into a dinner in an attempt to retrieve it.
British actors Marisa Abela ('Industry'), Tom Burke ('The Souvenir'), Naomie Harris ('No Time To Die' and Regé-Jean Page ('Bridgerton') are the other four suspects, all of them working with the government in highly regarded positions.
A lot of passion, tension, love and sacrifice comes in this film, with a dream-like aesthetic and attention to detail when it comes to visuals, so if you're a fan of thrillers and romance, make sure to get your tickets while you still can.
