17 years after the release of '28 Weeks Later', we are finally seeing footage of '28 Years Later', the long awaited sequel to one of the best zombie sagas according to both critics and audiences.
The first mention of the project was back in 2022, when writers Danny Boyle and Alex Garland alongside main actor Cillian Murphy let the people know their intention of making a new movie in the '28 Days Later'.
The project finally entering production in early 2024, with English actors Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes joining the cast as new characters, and Cillian Murphy reprising his role. Now, nearing the end of the year, the first trailer is finally out and people are going crazy over it.
The expectations for the third entry in this ongoing saga (with Garland expressing his intentions of adding even more films to this universe) were high, since the first two movies are usually top of the list when talking about post-apocalyptic zombie movies, and the specific things the trailer shows has everyone at the edge of their seats, excited for the premiere date.
There aren't that much details about the plot we are gonna be following this time around, other than knowing it's a group of survivors trying to stay alive 28 years later the initial infection by the Rage Virus. But we do know it's gonna be a Part 1, with Nia DaCosta set to direct the next film, titled '28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple.'
Let's hope looks are not deceiving and the full movie is as good as the little we've seen so far, and that the franchise can keep up in quality with the next installments.
