Thanks to an agreement with Sony Pictures, Marvel Studios has been able to bring Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who has been played by Tom Holland as the lead in a trilogy of "solo" films in addition to participating in other more choral titles. Holland debuted as the Arachnid in Captain America: Civil War back in 2016, continuing the legacy left by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, with whom he was able to share the screen in his last feature film, Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Jon Watts, director of the Spider-Man film franchise in the UCM, has stated that this trilogy has explored the full origin story of Peter Parker as the web-head in a version that, although it differs greatly from the comics, its denouement has left its protagonist in a situation much more in line with that of his paper version.
Now, Marvel has confirmed the title of this Spider-Man trilogy via Spider-Man: No Way Home: The Art of the Movie (via Screen Rant), where Marvel Studios head of visual development Ryan Meinerding has indicated that the Spider-Man trilogy in the UCM is titled the "Home trilogy." "Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films starring Tobey Maguire were really the gateway to modern superhero cinema in many ways, and both Andrew Garfield in the Amazing Spider-Man films and Tom Holland in our 'Home' trilogy have only enhanced the legacy of the big-screen web-slinger over two decades," he states.
Although both studios want to move forward with more films, for the moment the next installment project is on hold due to the current Hollywood writers' and actors' strike.
