However, it only made 36$M on its first days at theaters, Deadline reports.

The first installment of 'Joker' (2019) was an unexpected phenomenon, grossing over $1.07 billion worldwide on a budget of just $65 million, this marks the first big difference with the sequel, which reports a huge budget of 200$ million, besides other 100$ million on an enormous marketing campaign. Its success was not limited to the box office; it was also recognized at the most prestigious awards ceremonies, with Joaquin Phoenix winning the Academy Award for Best Actor and the film winning the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. Despite expecting a larger increase in box office revenue, particularly from the Asian market, especially Japan and China, analysts predict a weak performance. Additionally, director Todd Phillips, Joaquin Phoenix, and Lady Gaga reportedly received the largest portion of the budget.
