City of God: The Fight Rages On follows the characters 20 years after the events of the renowned film, through the lens of Wilson, who returns to the community when a young drug dealer’s release from prison puts City of God in dispute once again. The series follows the lives of residents in Rio de Janeiro's City of God favela as they navigate the ongoing conflicts between drug traffickers, police, militias, and politicians.
The series centers around Wilson "Rocket" Rodrigues, a former resident of City of God who has achieved his dream of becoming a photojournalist. He returns to the favela to document the ongoing disputes and how they impact the lives of its residents. In short, the residents end up trapped between drug dealers, militias and government authorities. However, their desire to break this cycle drives the community to unite and confront their oppressors.
