Throughout his extensive career, award-winning Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón has worked on a variety of audiovisual projects. These include his direction of the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), where he brought his unique vision to J.K. Rowling's magical universe, and his foray into science fiction with films such as Gravity (2013) and Children of Men (2006), exploring themes of loneliness and survival in extreme contexts. In addition, he recently captivated critics and audiences with Roma, an intimate and moving drama that won multiple awards. Now, the filmmaker is gearing up for his collaboration with Apple TV+ on his upcoming series entitled Disclaimer. This project promises to explore deep emotional and narrative territories, characteristic of Cuarón's signature style.
With his ability to blend the visually stunning with emotionally resonant, the filmmaker sets out to take viewers on a journey of perspective and reflection. Disclaimer represents not only a new opportunity for the director to expand his legacy, but also to explore new forms of storytelling in the emerging world of streaming.
Regarding the plot of this project, it will psychological thriller based on the novel of the same name by Renée Knight. In fact, according to its official sypnosis: "Acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft made her reputation by revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others. When she receives a novel by unkown author, she is horrified to realize that she is now the main protagonist in a story that exposes her darkest secrets. As the woman races to discover the writer' true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys both her own life and her relationships with her husband and son."
Disclaimer will debut its first two episodes on October 11.
