Since its debut in March 2021, the adaptation of Invincible has garnered praise from audiences and critics alike, mainly for its visceral portrayal of the superheroic universe and its raw action sequences. Inspired by the comic books of the same name by Robert Kirkman (also creator of The Walking Dead), the series was renewed by Prime Video for a second season that arrived with almost three years of delays and in two parts.
Fortunately, the gap towards a third installment would be smaller since in early March, actor Steven Yeun, who voices the main character, confirmed that the creative team was already working on it. Now additional information reveals that a fourth and fifth batch of episodes may be official. The news was comes from the crowdfunding campaign promoted through Skybound Entertaiment's Republic . This was for the purpose of raising funds for the development of a AAA Invincible video game. In the segment of the page that listed details about Prime Video's animated adaptation, it made the following mention: "Season 3 in production, renewed for seasons 4 and 5″.
Although the site later edited the announcement, the screenshots left the statement that quickly spread across the Internet. It is worth mentioning that due to the extensive universe set forth in the comics, Invincible has material for numerous seasons. In fact, last year, Kirkman himself acknowledged that he had in mind an ambitious number of installments to be able to cover the whole story. "I'm trying not to set a number, because it's kind of like a moving target. I think seven to eight seasons would be enough," acknowledged its creator who also has executive producer credits on the series.
