A few weeks ago we learned that director Ti West was nearing the end of post-production on MaXXXine, the third film in his horror trilogy that began in 2022 with X. After months of rumors and speculation, we now have a concrete date for the theatrical release, and it probably won't be long before we get a first teaser. A new report published by multiple international media outlets confirms that the next film in the franchise starring Mia Goth will premiere in the United States by A24 on July 5.
Recently, Ti West stated that studio A24 is particularly excited about MaXXXine as it represents a true homage to the horror films of the 1980s. While many details regarding the plot are still under wraps, it is official that it will be a direct sequel to X and will follow Maxine Minx as she tries to make it as an actress in Hollywood after surviving the farm massacre. "It's the best script of the three by far, it's going to be the best movie of the three," said lead Mia Goth in a recent interview when talking about the project. "It's the biggest story of the three, with the most at stake and Maxine has been through a lot. So when we see her in this new world, she's stronger and will go on some pretty wild adventures," the actress completed.
In addition to Goth, the film that will conclude the Ti West horror saga will feature a stellar cast. Among the confirmed stars are actress Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown) who will take on the role of a film director and Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) who will step into the shoes of an agent specializing in adult films.
