On December 20, 2023, Netflix will release Maestro, a film that explores the complex love affair between Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. Directed and co-written by Bradley Cooper, the film promises to be a powerful love story that also serves as a tribute to art and family life. With a production team and cast of great magnitude, it is indeed one of the most anticipated film offerings of the season on the streaming platform. As of this Wednesday, the trailer is now available.
According to the official synopsis, "is a powerful love story that follows the long relationship between Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. This ode to art and life is, at its core, a moving portrait of love and family." The cast is rounded out by Carey Mulligan, Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, Josh Hamilton, Scott Ellis, Gideon Glick, Sam Nivola, Alexa Swinton and Miriam Shor.
In fact, Cooper not only directs and stars in the feature, but also co-wrote the screenplay with Josh Singer. In addition, the production features a high-caliber team that includes Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Kristie Mackso Krieger, Fred Burner, Amy Durning, among others. Maestro had its world premiere last September 2 at the Venice Film Festival, where it received a seven-minute standing ovation, and then played as the gala film at the New York Film Festival. Also, the trailer shared today offers a panoramic view of Bernstein's life, from his early days as a young musician to his rise as one of America's most renowned conductors and composers.
The Maestro film will hit select theaters on November 22 and on Netflix on December 20.
