Netflix shared the first images from the sixth and final season of The Crown, which will premiere on November 16. The images focus on the summer of 1997, capturing the emerging relationship between Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed. The episodes also explore the media attention that followed the couple, culminating in the tragic car crash that cost them their lives. Elizabeth Debicki takes on the role of Diana of Wales, accompanied in the images by her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, during a vacation in the south of France. The new installment also includes portraits of Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth II. The second part is scheduled for release on December 14.
In addition to exploring the relationship between Diana and Dodi, upcoming episodes of The Crown will show us how the princess's death affected her youngest son, Prince William. "Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed enjoy their budding relationship, until a fateful car accident changes history forever," notes Netflix's official synopsis. Prince William will attempt to reintegrate into life at Eton after his mother's death, while the monarchy must navigate the wave of public opinion.
The final season of The Crown will premiere in two parts: the first on November 16 and the second on December 14. This split approach allows the series to take an in-depth look at the events surrounding Princess Diana's final days, as well as other issues relevant to the British monarchy, including the future of the institution with the marriage of Charles and Camilla, and the beginnings of a new royal history with William and Kate.
