In his most recent dialogue with the media, Tom Holland surprised more than one by confirming that he will retire for at least a year from his acting activity, claiming that his last artistic work generated serious problems in his psychological and mental health. Indeed, the big cause of the momentary retirement was his participation in the filming of the Apple TV+ series, The Crowded Room, a psychological thriller that arrived this Friday, June 9, and that, according to Holland, left him completely exhausted: "I'm broken. That role broke me."
The talented actor has won the hearts of millions of fans and Hollywood critics alike thanks to his performances in several films featuring Marvel Studios' beloved and famous superhero, Spider-Man. "I'm going to take a year and that's the result of how hard it was to make this series. I'm excited to know how the public is going to receive it, to feel that all the work we did was not in vain, but the shooting was a very hard stage. Being a producer led me to deal with everyday problems, it generated a lot of pressure to solve day-to-day dilemmas," Holland explained to the channel.
Likewise, the 27-year-old artist added: "I loved producing, and I am no stranger to hard work, because I believe that the harder you work, the better things turn out, and that part was very enjoyable. Despite that, the series took my strength, it broke me, there came a time when I thought it was time to take a break".
Created by Akiva Goldsman, The Crowded Room also stars American actress Amanda Seyfried. The episodes of the series arrive every Friday on Apple TV+.
