The singer, producer and songwriter The Weeknd has broken two new records on the way to becoming the most popular artist on the planet, statistically speaking. The resounding success of the author of 'Starboy' achieved two Guinness World Records. The first one is the artist with the highest number of monthly listeners on Spotify with more than 111 million and the first artist to reach more than 100 million monthly listeners on the platform. There is no other artist who comes close to taking the throne from the Canadian singer.
Indeed, The Weeknd is the artist with the most monthly listeners, followed only by Miley Cyrus, far behind. In fact, the rising numbers in the artist's plays is due to the new remix of his very popular song 'Die For You' that he recently released alongside Ariana Grande. The single reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it the seventh top spot for Abel and Grande respectively. In addition, the artist also shared with his fans the deluxe version of his album 'Starboy' for its 5th anniversary.
Believe it or not, this is not the artist's first Guinness World Record. In 2015, The Weeknd got the first for the most listened to album of 2015 on Spotify with 'Beauty Behind The Madness'. And the second for the most consecutive weeks in the Top 10 of Billboard's Hot 100 by a solo male artist. Currently the singer has a very busy schedule. In fact, a few weeks ago he premiered his video concert 'Live at Sofi Stadium' on HBO Max. In addition, the singer also participates in an HBO Max series.
