The Weeknd releases soundtrack for upcoming Avatar 2 by James Cameron. This Thursday, December 15, the sequel to Avatar will be officially out in most movie theaters. The soundtrack will be led by The Weeknd. The singer announces that he was going to be part of what promises to be the movie of the year.

It remains unclear what the extent of the Weeknd’s involvement will be in the film or the soundtrack. Reps for singer and Disney did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment. Abel, which is his real name, was most recently featured on Metro Boomin’s newest record, which also features performances by Aap Rocky, Travis Scott, Future and the late Takeoff. Earlier this year, he releases “Dawn FM,” which followes 2020’s chart-topping “After Hours. In addition, The singer is currently working on a mini-series for HBO max, available soon.
On the other hand, while Avatar 2: The Sense of Water opens this December, its sequel is expected to see the light of day in about two years. During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the director talked about his plans to continue the saga well beyond five parts. He acknowledges that, most likely, he will not be the one to direct all of them, due to his advanced age by then.
