According to Deadline, Adele Lim, writer of Raya and the Last Dragon and Joy Ride, is oficially directing the third installment of Disney's popular Princess Diaries 3. Additionally, Anne Hathaway, the original Mia Thermopolis, seems to have confirmed her involvement in the project through a recent Instagram and Tik tok post. In the video, Hathaway counted to three, intercutting clips of herself as a younger Mia Thermopolis and Julie Andrews as Queen Clarisse Renaldi both saying, 'Shut up! Andrews is also coming back.
In addition, Lim tells Deadline: “As a diehard fan of the original Princess Diaries, I’m beyond excited to be a part of bringing the third iteration of this beloved franchise to life. We look forward to celebrating its core tenants of female power, joy and mentorship with audiences worldwide.” The project is in early stages of production, the fans will still have to wait a while for the shooting to begin. At the moment, there are few official details available besides from the actresses coming back, and Lim directing. With Hathaway thight agenda, shooting would likely start past the Summer of 2025.
