Paul Bettany will reprise his role as the synthezoid Vision in a new Disney+ series. According to Variety, the project is will premiere in 2026, and will take place after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and WandaVision. In 2018, the character died at the hands of Thanos, and subsequently returned twice in 2021. First as a spectral creation of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) through pain-driven magic; then, as a reconstructed android with a ghostly white appearance (White Vision) and no memory of his past life.
At the end of WandaVision, the two Visions fought until Wanda's creation restored the memories of her white version, after which Wanda allowed the synthizoid to disappear. The new program will take place after these events, while White Vision is still alive exploring his purpose in this world.
Initially, WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer intended to be involved in the development of the current series, however, his attention was focused on making the spin-off of the original show, titled Agatha All Along with Kathryn Hahn in the lead role.
The new production seems to have won over Bettany, who jokingly told EW in 2022 that he would not return to the character “for any kind of money” and that he “couldn't even think of a number.” However, he later came clean and mentioned that Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, “is a man who really doesn't leave loose ends,” alluding to White Vision's open ending. So he did not close the possibilities of putting on “the tights and cape for another outing”.
It has not official yet whether Elizabeth Olsen and the love story between Vision and Wanda Maximoff will continue. We will have to wait for more news to confirm this.
