Warner Bros. has already achieved a major goal for 2024: to have Tom Cruise back. According to the company's official website, the studio and the Mission Impossible actor have closed a deal to create both original and franchise content. Warner Bros. CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy spoke about the partnership, saying that bringing Tom Cruise back to the company was part of their vision and a goal to accomplish by 2024 in order to continue to position the studio.
"We are thrilled to be working with Tom, an absolute legend in the film industry. Our vision, from day one, has been to rebuild this iconic studio to the height of its glory days. In fact, when we first sat down with David Zaslav to discuss the possibility of joining the Warner Bros. Discovery team, he told us, 'We are on a mission to bring Warner Bros. back, and we need to bring Tom Cruise back to Warner Bros!'" the company acknowledged.
"Today, that becomes a reality and we are one step closer to achieving our ambition. We couldn't be happier to welcome Tom back to Warner Bros. and look forward to bringing more of his genius to life on screen in the years to come," they added.
"I have great respect and admiration for David, Pam, Mike and the entire Warner Bros. Discovery team and their commitment to film, moviegoers and the theatrical experience. I look forward to making great films together," added Tom Cruise.
While this new partnership will represent his closest relationship to date, Tom Cruise has previously collaborated with Warner Bros. His previous filmography with the production company includes Edge of Tomorrow, The Last Samurai, Risky Business and Interview with the Vampire, among others.
