Weapons, the second horror film from Zach Cregger, the director of Barbarian, has reportedly lost Pedro Pascal, one of its leading actors. According to specialized journalist, Jeff Sneider, multiple sources indicate that the actor's departure has to do with scheduling conflicts with his other projects, including the new season of The Last of Us and, presumably, his arrival at Marvel. In addition to Pedro Pascal, actress Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World, 2022) and Brian Tyree Henry (The Eternals, 2021) would also be of for the ensemble horror film.
Among Pedro Pascal's next projects is the filming of the new season of The Last of Us, the hit HBO series that has just confirmed new additions to its cast and it should enter production next February.
At the same time, Sneider indicates in his publication that initially the Fantastic Four movie would begin shooting in April, which would have allowed Pascal to be part of the series, the Marvel Studios movie and the new Zach Cregger movie. However, a new change in the schedule of the expected MCU film has completely complicated that option. The insider claims that now the shooting date of the superhero movie will be in the second half of the year.
It's worth mentioning that Marvel Studios has yet to officially confirm either this delay or the cast of the Fantastic Four movie. The last firm confirmation we have corresponds to months ago when Deadline reported that Pedro Pascal was in "advanced talks" to play Reed Richards in the movie.
The Fantastic Four, which was initially announced in 2019, was slate for a May 2, 2025 release date.
