The Canadian singer Shawn Mendes will take a break from his music career to take care of his mental health.
The Treat You Better performer shared the unfortunate news through his Instagram account.
He said he would postpone shows on his Wonder world tour.
"This breaks my heart to have to say this, but unfortunately I'm going to have to postpone the next three
weeks of shows through Uncasville, CT until further notice" wrote the 23-year-old musician.
The singer explained that he made the decision after talking to some professionals about his health.
"I need to tak some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health, first and foremost.
As soon as there are more updates i promise i will let you know, love you guys"
It wasn't too long ago when Shawn opened up to his social media followers about his mental health issues.
In April, he shared a lengthy note on Twitter about feeling like he was "flying or drowning" at any
given moment, and questioned whether that's what it feels like in his 20s.
"The truth is that even with so much success, it's hard for me to feel like I'm not failing, hyper-focused on what
I don't have, forgetting to look at everything I do.
The truth is that I'm overwhelmed and overstimulated," expressed the Grammy nominee.
This is not the first time Shawn has spoken publicly about dealing with mental health challenges.
In 2018, he told Apple Music host Zane Lowe that his song In My Blood was about learning to cope with anxiety.
The artist added that that "song is a complete truth and the best thing about it is that it's not all negative.
The whole reason I wrote this song was to formulate a little bit of hope."
