Adele achieved a rare double on Friday by topping both the UK albums and singles charts.
Of course, with her long-awaited "30", on sale since a week ago, and its main track, "Easy on Me."
The Official Charts Company announced that "30" - the Brit's first album in six years - sold 261,000 copies
this week, making it the best-selling album in its release week in 2021.
"30" is the multi-award-winning singer's fourth album to top the UK charts.
The album made up 67% of all physical sales and became the most-streamed album of the week, with
55.7 million plays across all tracks.
Also, her previous albums, "25", "21," and "19", have made substantial returns to the charts this week, reaching
numbers 15, 18, and 31, respectively.
In fact, the 33-year-old singer also topped the singles chart for the sixth consecutive week with her song "Easy On Me."
Thus, beating her record set with the song "Someone Like You" from his album '21' which stayed
at the top of the charts for five weeks.
Of the twelve songs that make up "30", two have stood out above the rest, entering the singles chart this week,
with 'Oh My God' at number two and 'I Drink Wine' at number four.
However, Adele's sales figures are significantly lower than her previous album, '25', released in 2015.
That album, her third, debuted with 800,000 sales in the first week, meaning that '30' has sold 32% of its predecessor.
The drop can be partially explained by the massive growth of streaming in the last six years.
In addition, Adele won out over Ed Sheeran's = (Equals) album to claim the top spot this week.
It is also the most decisive opening week for a female solo album since Adele's last studio album, '25', was
released in November 2015.
