The Life of Chuck is an upcoming American drama film written and directed by Mike Flanagan. It is an adaptation of the Stephen King novella of his 2020 collection If It Bleeds. Tom Hiddleston, globally famous for his portrayal of the charismatic Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as a remarkable path on English theater, is going to embark on a radically different role in Mike Flanagan's upcoming film which is actually premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2024.
Vanity Fair has released the first images from Mike Flanagan's upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's The Life of Chuck starring Hiddleston, Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 years a slave), Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2), Mark Hamill (Star Wars), and David Dastmalchian (Oppenheimer) the project tells three interconnected stories about the character with the description of a complete common man, Charles Krantz, in reverse order: from his death from a brain tumor at age 39 to his childhood in a supposedly haunted house.
Moreover, The Life of Chuck is one of King's most poetic short stories. It narrates the life of Chuck and a world on the brink of collapse: a pandemic of suicides, earthquakes, and sinister events are leading civilization to its end while shows the life of a regular man. Basically, due to the current global situation, King seems almost prophetic, as this book was published in 2020, amidst so much dire news and felt very realistic at the time. Nevertheless, fans still have to wait for the first official teasers to find out more about the adaptation. The film will hit cinemas around the world on February next year.
