After eight films, including sequels, prequels and crossovers, the Alien franchise will make its foray into television with a series from Hulu. Noah Hawley, known for the Fargo adaptation, is the showrunner in charge of the strip that will bring back the lethal xenomorphs and will feature stars such as Sydney Chandler (Don't Worry Darling), Timothy Olyphant (The Mandalorian) and Kit Young (Shadow and Bone). It is a project that has been in development since 2020 and, like many productions, has been affected by the writers' and actors' strike. After a hiatus, the crew returned to the set earlier this year and has reportedly made great progress. In a recent interview, Hawley admitted that he has already managed to finish filming the episodes he was in charge of directing.
He also revealed that Hulu hopes to premiere the series as soon as possible and without too much of a wait between the first and second seasons: “Their hope is to put a second season as close as possible to the first,” said the creative. Although there's not exact dates at this time, the filming of the Alien TV series should conclude in July. Even so, it is clear that there will be a lot of visual effects work in post-production, which is why the premiere window points to sometime in 2025.
The small-screen debut of the Alien universe will feature the franchise's first story set on Earth, some 70 years in the future. According to Hawley, the series will be 'an extension and reinvention' of the forth in the cinematic universe that will also portray the race of the different companies to bring the androids to life.
