It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here. Marvel Studios has released the new trailer for the second season of its animated series What If…, which will return with more adventures for the MCU characters in the upcoming holiday season. The fiction will premiere new episodes daily starting next December 22 on Disney+, a new dynamic that aims to keep the attention of fans and at the same time serve as a gift to close this 2023.
This second installment will continue to explore alternate timelines with Jeffrey Wright's narration as The Watcher, guiding viewers through the vast multiverse. The season will also include episodes set in medieval times, confrontations between Shang-Chi characters and Odin's Asgardian forces, and a race between Valkyrie and Iron Man on the planet Sakaar from Thor: Ragnarok.
Cast members reprising their roles include Hayley Atwell as Captain Carter, Lake Bell as Black Widow and Josh Keaton as Captain America. The first season featured original MCU actors such as Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor), among others. In fact, Bryan Andrews remains as series director, with A.C. Bradley as lead writer.
Season two continues to explore the infinite possibilities of alternate timelines in the multiverse. Such a concept has gained relevance in the MCU, especially after significant events in series like Loki, where Tom Hiddleston's character set an important precedent for all that will follow in Marvel Studios.
In addition, it is important to remember that 2023 was not the best year for the company led by Kevin Feige.
The second season of What If…? will premiere 9 episodes daily on Disney+ starting December 22.
