Echo will be Marvel Studios' next series after Loki ends. The project stems from Hawkeye to focus on the character of Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox), the adopted daughter of the evil Kingpin. The young woman had some prominence in the Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld production. But now she will be the main face of a series that was to premiere in 2023. However, delays due to the strikes have pushed it to 2024. And it has already announced its premiere date, as well as a first teaser.
In the trailer, it is Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) who speaks to the protagonist, who is deaf. The trailer shows the origins of who will eventually become a powerful superheroine. But for now, it shows how the villain got to her when she was just a child. After killing her father, he raised her and turned her into a ruthless assassin. Her combat skills are absolutely extraordinary, being able to replicate the movements of any other person. Thus, she faces numerous rivals, including one of the most beloved heroes in all of Marvel, Charlie Cox's Daredevil.
The acclaimed character is also back in Echo, as announced. And, although it is very brief and may go unnoticed, he appears in the trailer. Specifically, he does so in the instant in which he is fighting Maya. She throws a powerful punch, but he manages to dodge it with a backward pirouette. What's most interesting is that he's once again wearing the red suit from the Netflix series and not the yellow She-Hulk suit. Exactly how much weight he will have in the plot is unknown, as Daredevil will actually have his own series within the UCM.
Echo is releasing January 10 on Disney+ and Hulu.
