The horror installment will also arrive in 2023 with the movie Five Nights at Freddy's, an adaptation of the hit video game created by Scott Cawthon. Emma Tammi directs this film that transfers to the cinema the terrifying adventure that became a phenomenon and took the form of a franchise with each installment that was released after the original title. Universal Pictures shared the official trailer for the live-action film starring Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games).
According to the official premise, it "follows a tormented security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. As he spends his first night on the job, he realizes that the night shift at Freddy's won't be so easy to get through." That's five nights in all that he must survive while dealing with the torment brought on by a group of animatronic dolls characterized by their thirst for blood.
In addition to Hutcherson as the guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, the cast includes Elizabeth Lail (You), Piper Rubio (Unstable), Kat Conner Sterling (We've Got a Ghost), Mary Stuart Masterson (Blindspot) and Matthew Lillard (Scream). Emma Tammi directs the film from a script she co-wrote with Scott Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback. Cawthon and Jason Blum are also producers.
Blumhouse -the film studio behind M3GAN, The Black Phone and The Invisible Man- worked on this project and gives it the original seal that has defined its greatest cinematic successes. Undoubtedly, the arrival of Five Nights at Freddy's on the big screen will appeal to fans of the video game that, at the time, was incredibly famous, especially among children.
Five Nights at Freddy's will hit theaters on October 27 in U.S. theaters.
