Todd Haynes, the director of Oscar-nominated films such as 'Carol' and 'Far from Heaven,' comes up with a new drama that portrays the different forms love can take. His new film 'May December' stars Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore and promises to show us a story of romance based on a true story about the morality that permeates the age difference between lovers
'May December' takes as its main focus the love life of Samy Burch and Alex Mechanik, who are in fact responsible for writing the film. The story talks about the age differences in a marriage and the scandal in front of external eyes that they had to cope with Burch being older than Mechanik, marking a new perspective on romance in Haynes' filmography with a new project that can be a clear contender for the next awards season, and this will not only be for the script, but for all the components of the film, such as the cast.
As already mentioned, one of the main actresses in Natalie Portman is known worldwide for her performances in films such as Black Swan, for which she won an Oscar, as well as for projects such as Jackie, Closer or The Other Boleyn Girl, she stars in this film in the role of Elizabeth Berry. Portman will star opposite Julianne Moore, also an Oscar winner for 'Still Alice.' She will play the role of Gracie Atherton-Yoo. In addition, Charles Melton, who appears on Riverdale, will star alongside the award-winners as Joe Yoo, Grace's husband.
'May December' arrived today at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, where it received an eight-minute standing ovation. On the other hand, there is still no date for its arrival in theaters.
