Oti Mabuse, for those of you who might not be familiar with her name, is a South African
dancer and TV personality, currently based in the United Kingdom and most recognized for
her 7 years run on the BBC show 'Strictly Come Dancing', and she has recently talked about
the show, and all the types of harassment she has suffered for being a public person.
Oti Mabuse, 31 years old dancer and celebrity, recently opened up in a sincere message for Radio Times,
where she talked about for the first time publically about all the backlash she has suffered
for her time in the show, from racist slurs and horrible messages across all her social media,
to fat-phobia related hate messages as well, but Oti tries to keep a good mindset about it,
and not let herself get dragged down by those negative comments, since she believes those few persons
leaving hate comments on her page does not represent everyone who sees and admire her
in 'Strictly Come Dancing'. If she's on a TV show with a 1 Million audience, why should
we listen to a couple of hundreds sending hate comments, if they are not the majority, they
don't represent the whole audience, and one should not let the few negative comments
get in the way of the majority of positive ones.
It's still awful seeing such a great, talented, person like Oti Mabuse receive these treatment
when she has done nothing but dance, and is great to see that she has the mental
strength to take such a mature approach to this hate she has received, but
we should make cyberbullies feel discouraged to go out of their way to do this type of thing.
Stop harassing people on the internet.
