The Ink Factor is producing a TV series for Fifth Season inspired in John le Carré's body of work, starring British actor Matthew Macfadyen.
'Legacy of Spies' will be the name of this series, and it won't be an adaptation of a single John le Carré novel but of multiple of them, sharing one main character by the name of George Smiley, who will be the center piece of this show.
Some of the books that the series is adapting include the "Smiley Versus Karla" trilogy, as well as some unpublished work from the late author that the writers are taking in consideration for the screenplay.
Stephen Cornwell it's behind the initial script according to Variety and their sources, and the series is already in the pitching process, so we'll have to wait and see if there's interest for this script so it can move forward.
This would mark Matthew Macfadyen comeback after Emmy winning series 'Succession', and previous actors who have played George Smiley in film adaptations before have moved on to winning Oscars, like Gary Oldman, so this is a promising role to land if it ends up happening.
And of course, there's a lot of iconic characters that will need talented actors to bring them to life, so we can look forward to the casting announcements for this exciting new projects of one of the most prolific authors of the United Kingdom
