The news are out about the new talent entering 'Switzerland' by Anton Corbijn: British actress Olivia Cooke, who is joining American actor Alden Ehrenreich, and Helen Mirren, who is playing the main protagonist of this thriller, the American novelist Patricia Highsmith.
First announced back in 2023 when Mirren got the role of Patricia and Dutch filmmaker and creative director Anton Corbijn jumped in as director on this script by Australian multidisciplinary writer Joanna Murray-Smith, this being her third produced screenplay.
As far as we know, the movie just started filming in Rome, so it will be a while until we get some official images or trailers for 'Switzerland', and even longer before it hits theaters. Brouhaha Entertainment is one of the production companies behind the film, and it will be shooting in Italy (happening just now), the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
The thriller follows Edward Ridgeway (Ehrenreich), a New Yorker in his attempt to get his favorite Author, Patricia Highsmith (Mirren) to come back from retirement and write another book of her beloved series 'Ripley', his ways gradually becoming darker and more dangerous as he faces rejection.
We don't know what role Olivia Cooke is going to play in this one, or how important she's going to be, but given she has quite the trajectory, we can expect her to destroy whatever role she gets no matter how small or big
