'Armand', a drama thriller film starring Renate Reinsve after her breakthrough role in 'The Worst Person In The World'. The film is the directorial debut of Norwegian filmmaker Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel, grandson of the legendary writer and director Ingmar Bergman.
The film, an international feature by four countries (Norway, the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden) screened for the first time at the Cannes Film Festival this past May, 2024, in the "Un Certain Regard" section where it won the "Caméra d'Or" for the Best First Feature Film category.
Of course, this set the expectations high about the type of movie we're gonna get, coming from a family with such talent and after winning such important award with his first film. Not to mention having such an excellent and promising actress like Renate Reinsve as the protagonist, 'Armand' is probably going to become a favorite for film enthusiasts online.
And after a lot of wait without news about the premiere in the United States, we finally now that the movie is opening this February. First on the 7th, for limited theaters, and expanding on the 14th. Probably for the Oscar campaign since this is going to be Norway's entry for Best International Feature at the upcoming Academy Awards.
There are not much details about the plot, other than knowing it's about a parents meeting after two kids fight at school, trying to clarify what really happened. And today, we have a new trailer to visit in the meantime, where we can admire Reinsve's magnificent acting even if for a few seconds.
