After the 'concern' of some of her followers and various comments about her body image, Ariana Grande decided to respond and touch the subject to send an important message. Through her Instagram profile, the singer shared a video in which she talks about the comments that have reached her through social networks regarding her weight, because according to users on social networks, they have seen Grande thinner, which caused alleged concern.
"I just wanted to address their concerns about my body and talk a little bit about what it means to be a person with a body and have so much attention paid to it," began the artist, who said that for her it was not so easy to address the issue, however it was necessary. The singer of '7 Rings' considers that, when talking about other people's bodies, we should do it with empathy and always with good intentions, without the desire to criticize negatively.
“I think we should be gentler and less comfortable commenting on people’s bodies, no matter what. If you think you’re saying something good or well-intentioned, whatever it is… We should really work towards not doing that as much.”" she stated. She also mentions that an 'acceptable' body according to stereotypes is not always the healthiest, an issue that should be the priority before trying to fit into society's current norms.
"There are many different types of beauty. There are many different ways to look healthy and beautiful. I know personally, for me, that the body I've been compared to, was the least healthy version of my body," she admitted. She added that in the past, when people didn't care, she took antidepressants and also drank and ate poorly.
