Kanye West adds another controversy: this time the family of the late George Floyd sued the rapper for harassment, misappropriation, defamation, and defamation of character.
In addition to inflicting emotional distress by questioning the African-American's death in an episode of the Drink Champs podcast.
According to TMZ's Twitter page, Floyd's family has been pressing charges.
"I saw the documentary about George Floyd that Candace Owens put out.
If you notice, the guy's knee wasn't even on his neck like that," the artist told in the space.
In light of the statements, TMZ wrote that Roxie Washington, the mother of Floyd's only daughter, Gianna, told TMZ on Tuesday that she has brought in a team of lawyers to demand Kanye $250 million.
The family's attorneys also say they sent a cease-and-desist letter, got by TMZ, to Kanye for his comments about Floyd.
The letter reads:
The cause of Mr. Floyd's death is well taken care of through the evidence shown in the courts of law during the criminal and civil trials that were the result of his untimely and horrible death.
On the other hand, Floyd got into custody by the police on May 25, 2020.
His arrest and death were caught on tape by several bystanders and broadcast on the internet, sparking a wave of protests across the U.S. against police violence and discrimination under the slogan "Black Lives Matter."
Chauvin, the officer who put his leg on Floyd's neck was given 22 years in prison for manslaughter in 2021.
And 20 more years after pleading guilty to excessive force and discrimination.
In the cease and desist, the family's attorneys demand that Kanye remove the interview and all of his similar statements.
In addition, the rapper has been dragging a period of erratic behavior and conspiratorial provocations.
