After a long wait, it's official, BLACKPINK is back. The Korean band made its comeback with its latest single called 'Pink Venom'. This first single counts as the preview of what will be her second studio album which is called 'Born Pink'. The long awaited album will arrive on September 16th, two years after their first album which made them so famous.
Not surprisingly, 'Pink Venom' is a hit even as everything the Korean band does. Their music is always inspired by US commercial pop and in fact, there are echoes of Jessie J's 'Bang Bang' with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj and also an in-between influenced by 90's hip-hop. However, the musical composition of 'PINK VENOM' also incorporates the melody of an Asian instrument.
It may be the geomungo, a type of plucked zither played by Jisoo in the first scene of the 'PINK VENOM' music video, enclosed in a spectacular cage of lights. It is one of the many striking scenes included in the video, a trademark super-production in which we also see Lisa immersed in a black swamp or playing the electric guitar, Lisa rapping in the street and Jennie singing in front of an SUV.
The Korean pop quartet will present 'Born Pink' through a world tour that will arrive in Barcelona on December 5. It is the only date of the tour that falls on Spain. In addition, on August 28 they will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards to present this new single.
On the other hand, BLACKPINK's new song is trending #1 on the platform and has already set a record among 2022 releases. So far this year, BLACKPINK has the MV with the most views in its first day: 67 million views
