\'Coronation Street\' actor Rob Mallard says Katie McGlynn "didn\'t warm" to him at first.
The 28-year-old star - who plays Daniel Osbourne on the ITV soap - has confessed he was "too over familiar" with his co-star (Sinead Tinker) initially, but she eventually realised he "wasn\'t an absolute tool" and they are now good friends.
He said: "I don\'t feel bad about saying this now because I take the mick out of her for it all the time. She didn\'t warm to me, shall we put it that way, when I first went.
"I think I was too over familiar with her, but once we did click, once she realised that I wasn\'t an absolute tool, we got that click moment and we\'ve been mates like that ever since."
Rob also hinted there could be a brighter future ahead for grief-stricken Daniel - whose wife Sinead tragically died earlier this year after battling cervical cancer - admitting it might "start to become a bit too much" for the audience otherwise.
Speaking on the Digital Spy \'Soap Scoop\' podcast, he added: "From an acting perspective, that continuity of story has been brilliant ... I would think though that it couldn\'t go on much longer, they [producers] would have to start doing other things with Daniel, because in the same way that the soaps move quite quickly in time, I think the audience is accustomed to that, and only so much of an extended storyline about something about grief for example.
"It might start to become a bit too much. So, I think soon enough we will see a shift in where Daniel is going."
